About:

Zeitgeist is pleased to present The Ability to See Ghosts. This ensemble exhibition was curated last spring by Alicia Henry, beloved artist and Language and Art professor at Fisk University. Alicia took this opportunity to share her exhibition slot and vision for the space choosing these three internationally recognized artists: Gloria Holwerda-Williams, Jinnie Seo, and Christina Haglid, and suggested it at Zeitgeist for the spring of 2025.

“These artists explore the ideas of permanence and impermanence, myths and actualities, the seen and unseen, a fleeting moment or something longer, experienced and imagined brought to tangible form in their works. These works expounding concepts and expressions of past, present and future ghosts. The works also made of various, and some unexpected, materials. These works are sort of apparitions and formations presenting of both personal and public event. These artists bring public and private, historic and contemporary to their works the act of making something visible, literally thought out, and in the case of these works, visceral too.”  Gloria Holwerda-Williams

Alicia always had a lavender plant which has many medicinal applications and mythical stories.

One of which is: when inhaled one can see ghosts.

Thank you to Gloria Holwerda-Williams, Jinnie Seo, Christina Haglid and the Henry family for working with us to make this exhibition possible. We are honored to host this special exhibition curated by Alicia celebrating art and friendship.
