Ward Schumaker is a multi-media artist based in San Francisco and a member of the Picture Mechanics group of illustrators. His heavily impastoed portraits were featured in Zeitgeist’s summer 2003 Switchyard series and last year’s Detail exhibition. His latest body of work incorporates handmade/painted, one of a kind books and a group of corresponding canvases that explore painted images within the format of a book and words elegantly presented as pictorial elements on two-dimensional canvases. |
