Exhibit Description:
Worlds Lying Out to Sun
Zeitgeist is pleased to present a new suite of paintings, monotypes, and a recently published book from Franklin, Tennessee native Will Berry. Based in New York City, Berry’s latest work reflects time spent in Oaxaca, Mexico. This new series of abstract landscapes seeks to capture the experience of this ancient terrain in light and color.

Berry’s primary focus has always been the stroke of color. Coordinated color tone conveyed by carefully loaded brushes invoke the play of light across sun-streaked skies and tilled fields. There is also an emphasis on composition that is complex yet allows the forms to float effortlessly in carefully articulated space. The individual paintings on canvas and monotype etchings originate from small plein-air pieces the artist did while living in Oaxaca.

Will Berry’s work can be seen in the permanent public collections of The Huntsville Museum of Art, The Tennessee State Museum, and Senator Bill Frist. Corporate collectors include EMI (NYC), Le Zinc (NYC), and San Dominico (NYC). Berry is also collected privately across the US and in France and Greece.
