Zeitgeist is pleased to announce our first gallery exhibition of 2004. Detail, as the name implies, is a group specifically chosen for a chosentask; particularly, to kick off Zeitgeist's tenth anniversary.

Will Berry, a Zeitgeist stalwart, will show new work derived from recenttime spent in Oaxaca, Mexico. Berry continues to explore ideas oflandscape featuring a more concentrated palate balanced with frenetic andcalligraphic gestures.

Todd McDaniel, who was awarded one of the Scene's Best Exhibitions of theYear for 2003 will show new works on aluminum that feature dragged fields ofcolor over dark, dramatic backgrounds. They are quickly renderedcompositions that make full use of spontaneity and chance.

Carl Gombert has been featured in a Nashville International Airport"Flying Solo" show and in the Tennessee State Museum "Best of Tennessee"exhibition. This show finds him taking his signature portraits a stepfurther by constructing some of them from rubber stamp impressions.

Tim Hussey is a Charleston, South Carolina-based artist whose human/animalmorphed images have also been featured in a "Flying Solo" Airport show andnumerous Zeitgeist exhibitions. His work has also been published in NewYork Times, Chicago Tribune, and Washington Post in addition to doing livepainting segments on MTV.

Chris Scarborough, whose work will be familiar from numerous Zeitgeistshows, two appearances in New American Paintings, and a solo exhibition atRule of Thirds will show darkly humored psychological portraitsdramatizing the influence of pop culture and the media on the everydayexperience.

Ward Schumaker is a multi-media artist based in San Francisco and memberof the Picture Mechanics group of illustrators. His heavily impastoedportraits were featured in last summer's Switchyard series.
