New Works on Linen marks Lars Strandh’s first solo showing at Zeitgeist. Many may remember his meticulously rendered, geometric abstract paintings from Zeitgeist’s 2008 Dialogue series and from outings at Terrazzo. Layers and layers of thinly applied translucent color come together as skeins of color to invoke associations. The artist talks about his work in terms of physical aspects, paint applied to linen supported by a wooden structure also about the works’ overall effect; the “atmospheric quality in the painted fields.”

"It is possible to lose oneself in the spacious areas suggestive of water and air. The illusion is within reach for anyone willing to see it." Per Gunnar Tverbakk

Lars Strandh is a native of Gothenburg, Sweden but is based in Oslo and exhibits widely through out Europe including recent shows in Oslo, Munich, Zürich, Stockholm, and New York.

The second component to these two exhibitions is an Open Studio focusing on new works on paper from Patrick DeGuira, Brady Haston, Hans Schmitt-Matzen, and Manuel Zeitlin. These artists use a variety of sculptural, drawing, and printmaking techniques including drawing transfer, silkscreen, polyester prints, photo-lithographs, and intaglio.
