| The Passport Series |
For 2009, Zeitgeist gallery will be exhibiting work around the very broad theme of “the written word.” Our first exhibition precisely exemplifies this theme by presenting both the work of the poet Georgeanne Harmon and new paintings from Paul Harmon.
Georganne will read and discuss her work on the evening of Thursday, February 5th in the gallery 6pm – 8pm; public invited.
Working off last year’s Dialogue shows and panel discussions, the gallery will host prose writers and poets with each gallery exhibition. This installment’s literary component features readings from Georganne and invited guests. A discussion will follow concerning topics they see as relating to what they do as writers.
Georganne Harmon’s poems have won numerous prizes; most recently both first and second place at the annual Tennessee Writers’ Alliance competition.
Harmon taught English and Creative Writing in Nashville public and private schools for many years and continues to conduct writing workshops for young people and adults. In 1998, she was named Teacher of the Year for Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools. Early in her career, she taught at the famed Scuola Maria Montessori in Bergamo, Italy.
The Passport Series marks a departure in the work of Paul Harmon. Many will note a new attention to the canvas surface, use of color, and a more gestural treatment of the themes he is internationally recognized for. These developments serve to reinforce Paul’s reputation as an artist whose work continues to evolve.
Paul has also produced a limited edition print portfolio that will be available at the show. The gallery will be scheduling evenings at Paul's Brentwood studio on January 29 and February 18 (please note change of date for the second studio evening from the 25th), from 6-8PM. Please contact Lain York (lain@zeitgeist-art.com) or Janice Zeitlin (janice@zeitgeist-art.com) for reservations.
Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
For more information please call Janice Zeitlin or Lain York at 615-256-4805.
